Vector project G munny!

This is a quote by Albert Einstein "if A is success in life; then A equals x plus y plus z. work is x; y is play and z is keeping your mouth shut. I thought the quote was rather enlightening as you would expect einstein to be more scientific with his thoughts on life but he was a rather down to earth fellow as he thought imagination and personality made up quite a bit of ones genius. I modeled the picture out of a chalk board as i always saw math equations on them when i was young and figured it would suit the quote well along with an equation that was meant to confuse yet entertain.
This quote is "i think we developed language because of our inner need to complain." by Jane Wagner. This idea came to me rather quickly when i thought of comics online that cant curse so use symbols for profanity. I enjoyed the quote due to liking to complain myself and then looking back and realizing how much of an enjoyment it is for the one complaining but not hearing. The image is simple but carries the idea well i believe. The red color was used as it stands out with frustration.
The final quote is "do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup" by unknown. Its a funny quote that had a bunch of possibilities but i figured a bowl of soup was the easiest way to go. Everything in the picture is made in illustrator except the wood background which was an image from the internet. After looking at it a few times i like it more and more as it fits together much better than i had thought. At first it was just the bowl but i was suggested to add a spoon and background where it then because far more interesting.

alt alt and possibly another alt vector exersize

A more creative use of color and text than my previous entrees. Wanted a more dynamic and unique art piece using rectangles and different sized strokes. Used cool colors to give a related feeling so nothing was opposing each other. The Design was intended before hand to overlap and be placed in ceratin areas for space effect.

Alt vector peice

This vector piece was a beta idea and quickly designed with angles and color involved. The letters are arranged with a certain distance from each other while slightly overlapping to create an intentional composition.

Vector exersize

This is a vector art piece that i wanted to have equal negative and positive space. I used 3 letters for the piece and modified each of them to have distinctive soft curves that i wanted to flow. I chose curves since block letters seem stiff and uninteresting so i used rounded letters that show elegance and creativity. The piece is simplistic in its design dispite looking chaotic and random. The pieces were thought out and purposely given alot of free space in-between each other to separate shapes.

Montage-o-matic

Hey all, just uploading a super duper new project. It is a photo montage of the stone garden on the ASU campus next to the Old Main. The pictures were created from 4 days of photographing, and 12 different pictures from a morning to night time. I enjoy the spot on campus due to the common emptiness with very few people visiting it yet it appears as though it has stopped in time. Only the cats visit there now so they occasionally appeared. The Photo's were taken at different angles, distances and filters.

nother self portrait

Discussion questions 8/31/09

what is art? art is entirely subjective and isn't possible to define other than what we want to call art. Creating images and poetry is what we traditionally call art but there is limitless definitions if we look hard enough. Art can be a scientific discovery through a math equation, art can be the flattening of cement on a sidewalk. A quote i like to use is "art is a science and science is an art", depending on how open your mind is pornography can be an art. I define art as whatever can be created whether it involves, motion, color or composition. Is it possible to assess and evaluate art? By professional standards i suppose you could gather a group of art experts and have them break down pieces to its merits and flaws but then you would just have to take their word for it as professionals. Everyone has different tastes and experiences as to what makes good or bad art, and what is just plain good or bad to look at. There can even be beauty in the creativity of a purposely bad designed piece. Art is not possible to evaluate on a measurable scale just as books and movies cannot be universally understood as good or bad. What is good or bad art? good or bad art can at best be determined through the actual application of color, composition and shapes. Although that is just assessing the basics of art understanding and cannot state if a piece is good or bad. In conclusion, art is a personal taste in content and composition. In the Dada period, new artists purposely created a piece out of a urinal which was to distort and upset the current traditional view on art, which to this day that piece is considered "art".
